Live global demographics, explained simply
World Pulse turns official global population statistics into a live, visual experience. Rather than burying the numbers in a spreadsheet, we project the current UN and World Bank population estimates forward in real time, so you can watch — second by second — the scale of births, deaths, and net growth happening around the planet right now.
Our Approach to Data
Every figure on this site traces back to a named, public source: the World Bank's Open Data platform and the UN Population Division's World Population Prospects. We don't estimate our own birth or death rates — we take the official annual figures published by these institutions and convert them into a per-second rate so the numbers move the way population actually changes: continuously, not once a year in a report. Full methodology and source links are on the home page and in each figure's caption.
Why We Built This
Population trends — aging societies, slowing growth, the shrinking gap between birth and death rates — are some of the most consequential slow-moving stories in the world, and they rarely get shown at a human, moment-to-moment scale. We wanted a page that makes that scale viscerally clear.
