Paste it into any HTML page, blog post, or CMS block. It works in WordPress (Custom HTML block), Squarespace (Code block), Wix, Ghost, Notion embeds, and plain HTML.
Why it will not slow your page down
- No network requests. The counter is computed in the browser from a fixed baseline and annual birth and death rates. It never calls an API, so it cannot hang or fail.
- 4KB total. Smaller than most images on a page.
- Loads lazily. The
loading="lazy"attribute means it only loads if a reader scrolls to it. - No cookies, no tracking, no analytics. Nothing is set in your visitors' browsers, so it raises no GDPR obligations for you.
Where the numbers come from
The baseline is the World Bank's total population series, advanced forward using crude birth and death rates from the same source. It is a projection, not a census — no country counts births and deaths as they happen, so every live population counter works this way, including the US Census Bureau's. Our explainer on how population clocks work covers the method and its limits in full.
Terms
Use it anywhere, on as many pages as you like, commercial or not. The only condition is that you leave the "Live data by World Pulse" credit link in place. That link is how we cover the cost of keeping this free.
